My Investment Philosophy includes a process, which starts with an assessment of each client or prospects goals for investing and life. I take each individual through a risk tolerance questionnaire so as to establish a baseline for investing. The discovery of personal information is completed and should be updated periodically.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

PERSONAL INFORMATION

This includes family information, income, income needs, assets, liabilities, time horizon, and time horizon for income needs.

RISK ASSESSMENT

RISK ASSESSMENT

The assessment of risk, and personal information should dictate the portfolio asset allocation.

INCOME NEEDS

INCOME NEEDS

From there, I want to have cash, liquid savings, and safe investments available for any short-term or unforeseen income needs.

DIVERSIFIED EQUITY EXPOSURE

DIVERSIFIED EQUITY EXPOSURE

I want to own quality investments throughout a client portfolio. I want diversified exposure to United States and international equity markets. Canadian equity market exposure is important, but I want to be mindful of a home country bias. Recognizing that the Canadian economy is limited to only some economic sectors and is cyclical in nature.

FIXED INCOME

FIXED INCOME

With regards to fixed income, the fixed income portion of a portfolio should be well diversified. I want fixed income to not only provide income and some growth, but it should contribute to the overall safety of the portfolio.

REBALANCE PORTFOLIOS

REBALANCE PORTFOLIOS

I want to take profits and/or rebalance portfolios regularly or when necessary to maintain thresholds for income needs and to maintain a portfolios desired asset allocation. I want to dollar cost average into investments when possible and appropriate.
